I do like the idea of limiting the image to one main swirl, and letting the rest develop almost as a stalk to the flowerhead. The more simple circles and balloon/bubble-like ellipses also work well as elements of simplicity - a balance to the more complex overall design.

Coco - lots of artists work this way - by intuition and what feels correct. However, people like me try to understand what it is that appeals, we are analysts, and there is intellectual pleasure to be had from this. Sometimes comments rub off on the artists, even subconsciously, and that results in new ideas. Anyway, I hope I help one way or another.
