Artist's Comments

:icontreehuggerplz:As residents of Victoria (Australia) who escaped the terrible bushfires which ravaged our State earlier this year, wiping out a third of our eucalypt forests and taking the lives of almost 200 souls ~ my son and I, out of curiosity, drove up yesterday to the mountains beyond Healesville, through the Black Spur and finally turned back at Marysville, a once beautiful and picturesque township totally destroyed by the fires. We were saddened to see many vacant blocks where lovely homes once stood ~ only the rotary clotheslines were left, looking like forlorn sentinels from happier times. The devastation of our beautiful forests in that region was shocking to see, although regeneration is well on the way with ferns, bracken and new growth softening the landscape again.

It must have been both a very saddening and a good experience, to see the devastation again and also the power of nature to make a new start.
Thanks a lot for sharing the shots and the story.
And ever so many thanks for your kind words about my health.

Thank you so much dear Jurgen for your kind comments and concern. It was shocking to see this once spectacular region decimated by fire, but as you said, heartening to see nature regenerating itself. The native animals can now commence their return, as their food source (eucalyptus leaves) is once again available.:rose: Coco

It's heartbreaking to see old forests being destroyed by fire. I have seen it many times too. Thank god, nature is strong but it takes years and years for a forest to recover. Sometimes even new plants grow because they get light that before they had been reprieved of because of huge trees. Let's hope that no such fire will start ever again.
I am terribly sorry for all the many people on this world who loose their homes because of fire wind or water, the forces we still can't completely control :(

Thank you so much dearest Barb for your thoughtful and most appreciated comments. What an interesting thing you say about new plant species growing because of a light source they were previously deprived of, due to the forest canopy. I think humans will never be able to control the forces of nature ~ and perhaps this is how it is meant to be? Coco

Hi Coco,
Sorry to react so late, but I am indeed glad the green is coming out again. Fortunately the life force is a strong force.
Many thanks for all caring comments. I appreciate them very much, even if I do not answer them all personnally.
